The fruit is a false berry (peponide), very massive; The skin is smooth, hard and relatively thin, green with various streaks and light patches, white or yellowish; the inside is red (or, less frequently, yellow, orange or white depending on the variety) and full of seeds, which can be blacks, white or yellow. The pulp is formed to over 90% of water, but also contains a discrete quantity of sugars, especially fructose, and vitamins A, C (8.1 mg per 100 g of fruit), Bs and B6.
